The AIYC want to see the poor youth on the street flourishing. Why? Because we all come from there. We are all children of struggling parents who had to go through a lot just to provide at least two square meal a day. At some point they couldn’t do anything for us, leaving us to struggle and fend for our selfs on the street.
People identify most of us, gave us an opportunity and they said, there’s potential in this young men.
Currently AIYC don’t have anything, nothing to offer, we can’t build a school or create jobs. But with our voices and creative initiative we can realise a dream of changing lives of the hopeless youth in our communities.
There were night most of us slept without food. Believe me we know what poverty does to people. That’s why we must help our youth and we don’t care how many we must help, whether it’s one, two, hundreds or thousands. We know it’s possible we can change their lives. But we must start by changing the narrative.
So we don’t understand why exxonmobil and other top companies in our land can’t build at least a well standard school strictly for the poor people, for children that are hopeless and they were once told by their teachers they are nothing and can’t and would never go far in life. These are the kind of people we must go and identify and help.
We tell our story not because we want anyone to pity us. This story we are telling is the story of every Akwa Ibom Youth who grow from the street. We’ve all gone through that.
So AIYC has no reason to align with any individual, groups, or person’s who wants to destroy the future of our youth with insecurity, poor educational systems, poor infrastructures, lack of jobs, thuggery, zero Youth welfare, cause we truly know where our youth come from.
Together we can change the narrative and build the Youth for the future we so desire for our children and children yet unborn.
May God Bless Akwa Ibom Youth.
Comr. Utibe Utin International Vice President AIYC
Comrade Edidiong Ita in conversation with the distinguish Senator Effiong Bob.
Edidiong Ita
While growing up,the name Effiong Bob was legendary to the ears of children in our village. Parents would gather their children and advise them to grow up to be like Effiong Bob,there were so many things to emulate from him that he had become idol to so many homes especially those who admire good things.
My mother would always point to the roads around Ikot Ekwere influenced by him to the area, the Library built by him for his people, the hospital, the pipe Borne water, the different people empowered by him and the way he builds even his immediate family. No reasonable person will refuse to admire such a legend.
Effiong Bob became a legend to be told during moon light tales, children would gather and sing songs,l remember one particular game where we used to choose our Idols, many children chose Effiong Bob,you hear them say ” Ami ndo Effiong Bob” some of us would fight with anyone who would want to struggle the name with us,it was such a moment of joy once my co- children accept the fact that l was Effiong Bob.
Fast forward to today, people say “what you love will always come to you.”
Last year while contesting for Vice president, Our path crossed and for the very first time in my life,l had the opportunity to sit with my Idol.
I arrived Ewet Housing around 8am. The distinguished Senator has such a beautiful house with many responsible workers.l don’t know how he does it but anyone who has visited his uyo residence will agree with me that everyone working in that compound is highly coordinated and responsible.
I knocked the gate and a gentleman came asking: “Good morning sir,how may l help you?” “I want to see the distinguished” l responded. “Are you on appointment?” At this point I knew l was done for, because l wasn’t on appointment but as desperate as l was,l called one of the security men and begged ” Sir,I am not on appointment but I’m sure if the distinguished gets to know that someone is in desperate need of his help,he will allow me in”
The responsible security man look at my face and said ” give me a second’ The next thing, the gateman asked me to come in.
I was taken straight to the visitors’ room. There l saw the different strides of the gentleman, the Air condition almost got me frozen and l needed to comport myself knowing too well how important my visit was.
People took turn to meet him, when it got to my turn, l went in, within me seeing my idol was enough for me but l needed to tell him what he wanted to hear, atleast l must tell him about the moon light tales, how we used to struggle on would take his name, how our parents used to tell us to be like him,and many more but AC had taken some of these away so a shaking me was only left with what took me there.
“Good morning distinguished” “Da Amedi” he responded. Sir please I am the immediate past Chairman of NANS,please as a father… He didn’t allow me to land,he asked ” What is NANS? National Association of Nigerian Students l answered.
“Do you have problem with school fees?” He asked? I said No sir,l am contesting Election, this election means alot to me,l really need your support sir!!! ” Well,l always advise Students to focus on their studies, but since this means alot to you,l will see what l can do for you” distinguished said very calmly. Thank you sir.
I left the house disappointed,to me l didn’t convince him enough,he didn’t allow me to tell him the moon light tales, his AC had taken some of my plans away,l would have atleast told him we share same village,l had alot to tell him but somehow l could not.
To me,there was no need, even big men who give me enough time to narrate my story don’t do well to get back to me let alone this one.
The gatemen could see the frustration in my face so they quickly opened the gate for me.
This was on a Saturday. On Monday l received a call, “Edidiong how are you doing?” A voice asked me, ” I am fine.” I responded. “Come to the house before 8, l will be out, this is Senator Effiong Bob.”
I was in Afaha Nsit,l almost shattered the almost filled mini-bus to Uyo. I got there and the already briefed gatemen didn’t ask questions this time,l was taken straight to his Office.l arrived 30 minutes late,he was already prepared to go out,l realized l was the only one who kept him, that humbled me.
Ofcourse l was breathing so fast, one could hear the rhythm of my heart beating so fast. The distinguished sat me down; ” I have been a father to so many people, leadership is service to the people,it is not a do or die affair, make your manifesto known to your students while banking on God to win. God is the author and finisher of our faith,he alone knows what is good for you,he will never give you what is not best for you.Lastly, we must place value on the people, especially those who come to us with desperate need.l realized this election means alot to you,l could read your face while talking to you the last time you came,God will provide every resources needed,l bless you as a father and your leader.”
The distinguished prayed. I felt what l never felt before, the confidence of having your idol pray for you,the joy of having such a successful mentor lay hands. I could see the sincerity on his face,l could see he wished me so well.l have never met him in this manner before,he meant me well an l returned home with everything needed to win the Election.
This time,I left the house happy but all through that day,l was wondering what manner of man Effiong Bob was,he spoke less but took more action, the wisdom, the maturity, the humility, the kindness ,the love, the sincerity ! name them… This is indeed the man my mother once told me about,l was not disappointed. I was glad l chose him my idol as a child and l could fight for it.

The PDP Condemns And Rejects In Totality The Purported Ward 11 Results Flying On Social Media
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Esit Eket Chapter condemns and rejects in totality what transpired yesterday at Ward 11 in Esit Eket LGA.
The party noted that AKISIEC’s ad-hoc staffs deployed to the Ward were ambushed and election materials (both sensitive and none-sensitive) carted away to an unknown destination.

In the same vein, our members who conducted themselves peacefully across the entire 8 units were molested, bruised and chased away by miscreants.
Consequently, the party position is simple; Election was not only marred by violence and irregularities, but also did not take place in any units in Ward 11, therefore, should be outrightly cancelled.
